Our School

Welcome to Welshampton Church of England Primary School

"Growing together in strength, love and wisdom, we shine"

As Headteacher, I would like to welcome you to our website and to offer you an insight into our school. This will give you a flavour of what we offer at Welshampton but please arrange a visit if you would like to find out more.

Welshampton is a small village in the beautiful Shropshire countryside near to Ellesmere. We view our school community as a family which works in harmonious partnership to provide new and exciting opportunities for our children to become active learners.

We are proud to be a Church of England School with the vision ‘Let Your Light Shine’ as stated in Matthew 5:16 Sermon on the Mount. This translates into our children being nurtured as unique individuals with skills and talents which we seek to identify and promote through activities both within the school and beyond. Throughout the school we celebrate and recognise individual and collective success through our displays, celebration assemblies and newsletters. Our ambition is to make sure every child is equipped with the skills they need to succeed at school and beyond.

We believe that learning is most productive when children are happy and engaged so we aim to make learning as fun as possible! For learning to be at its best, children must know what they are aiming to achieve, when the basic skills of literacy and number are firmly embedded in daily practice and when they are given the opportunity to apply those skills through problem solving, independent research and teamwork challenges. We nurture our pupils to develop resilience and the tenacity to be successful in their goals and to grow into happy, healthy, ambitious individuals.

We want to broaden the horizons of our children - showing them that in the outsdie world everything and anything is possible. Our school grounds offer a wide range of opportunities for children to expand their learning beyond the classroom; educational and residential visits are an integral aspect of our curriculum and we continually explore opportunities offered through computing and digital media.

With strong family values we nurture our children to become proud of themselves and to uphold the best of British Values in their attitudes and behaviour. Through collective worship and daily activities we encourage children to develop spiritually and to be reflective learners.

Welshampton Church of England Primary School is part of the Newhampton Church of England Schools Federation alongside it's partner school Newtown Church of England Primary School. Each school is unique in their own way but work together for the benefit of those children who attend each setting. The schools are siblings, not twins, but we strive to take advantage of all the opportunities available through collaborative working of two small rural schools.

Please take some time to explore our website and I please feel free to contact me if you'd like to visit the school.
