Class 2's Chambers of Choice

As part of our science topic on living things and their habitats we planned and conducted an enquiry to identify which is the preferred habitat for woodlice.  We talked about how we might find the answer to this.

We set up choice chambers by dividing a foil tray into 4 sections. we placed bark in one section, bread and marmite in another, rotting vegetables in another and soil in another.  We placed two choice chambers in the dark and two in the light and left them over night.

The children made predictions from prior knowledge on where they thought the woodlice might be in the morning.

After checking them this morning the bark was most definitely the preferred habitat!
