Oak Class have another wonderful term of learning adventures ahead. In Literacy, we be exploring a range of exciting texts through which we be developing a range of writing skills. These texts remain ‘top secret’ until the final moment, as the mystery surrounding them is used to stimulate the children’s ideas. Using these texts as stimulus, the children will produce a final piece of writing in the style of a trespass narrative and a letter to inform.
In maths, we will continue to follow White Rose Maths which is based on a mastery approach to the teaching of mathematics designed to strengthen and deepen understanding. The children will begin by looking at place value, followed by: addition and subtraction, multiplication, division and Fractions.
In our wider curriculum work, we will begin the term by thinking about why Christianity does not always look the same. In PSHE, the children will explore the theme of citizenship and how our role in society is important for contributing to the world. We will then move onto Art and design where we will be learning about photography. In design and technology, we will delve into the world of structures and designing a new playground.
In Geography, we will be exploring population changes whilst in History we will investigate the secrets of Tudor life.
Our science topic will focus on earth and space and how we fit into our spectacular solar system and finally, in PE the children will be learning through team games and activities which will enhance their knowledge of a range of sports.

Key Information for the Autumn Term 2026:
Children should wear full school uniform and black school shoes each day.
Our PE sessions will be on a Tuesday afternoon and a Wednesday morning. Children are required to bring in full PE kits on these days and they will be able to change in school.
Children should bring a water bottle with fresh water every day.
Children do not need to bring pencil cases or other personal items to school as all the equipment they need is provided.
