We know that when there is a strong partnership which values shared learning between school, parent and child, children make better progress.
Therefore, every child in our school will be set some kind of homework. This will of course vary depending on their ages and abilities. It will always consist of reading and some form of mental maths, as we expect every child to read and practise their mental mathematics every day.
Each class teacher will set additional homework tasks which may include learning key words, number work, topic related projects, weekly spellings and maths work that relates to the work the child is covering in class that week.
Every child in years 1-6 is given a homework book and each class teacher will ensure tasks are set in this book so that parents know what their child has to do. We aim for homework to be relevant and fun and it should always consolidate what your child has been learning in school.
